Organic

Most people are aware that "organic" means foods and products grown and processed without the use of synthetically produced chemicals such as fertilisers, herbicides, fungicides or pesticides and is free from antibiotics and growth hormones.
Many nutritionists believe organic produce is better for you and more nutritious. Many people say that organic food tastes "as it used to", a bit like home grown veggies. Research has shown that organic food has more vitamins, antioxidants and nutrients.
Many of our customers have expressed an interest in being able to purchase more organic produce. We are delighted to have begun our organic “story”. At present we have a selection of organic fruit and vegetables plus the items listed below and will be looking to expand our range over time.

Trevallyn Grocer is proud to be part of a movement that is giving hope and dignity back to the common farmer/worker in bringing produce to the table.

"Fairtrade is about better prices, decent working conditions, local sustainability, and fair terms of trade for farmers and workers in the developing world. By requiring companies to pay sustainable prices (which must never fall lower than the market price), Fairtrade addresses the injustices of conventional trade, which traditionally discriminates against the poorest, weakest producers. It enables them to improve their position and have more control over their lives"... (quoted from the Fairtrade website)
We have a selection of Fairtrade produce in our grocer, and we're always looking to expand the range.
